Card Rawhides II opens on a spiced flicker of cardamom before the leather takes centre stage - clean and dry rather than animalic, like new car seats, exactly as Tom Ford's Ombre Leather intends. A touch of jasmine sambac softens the leather with a floral edge before a base of amber, moss and patchouli brings a slightly smoky, green drydown. Against the original the budget take is flatter and less plush - the leather note thinner and the projection softer, sitting closer to the skin where the Tom Ford throws strongly for its first hours. It remains a confident, sophisticated modern-leather scent that wears across seasons, well suited to evenings, dates and dressed-up occasions.
