Clear Deer For Men opens on a soft aromatic lavender before clean white musk takes centre stage, echoing the velvety, comfortable musk that made The Body Shop's White Musk a cult classic. A heart of geranium and jasmine adds a light floral lift, while a base of musk, vetiver, tonka bean and soft sandalwood grounds the composition in a creamy, silky warmth. It is the same clean-musk-into-soft-wood idea the original is loved for, inoffensive and easy to wear. Against the original the Perfume Parlour version reads a little flatter and more synthetic, the layered musk-and-floral interplay less nuanced, and as a budget eau de parfum the longevity stays moderate, hugging the skin rather than projecting far. Still, it wears clean and comforting through the day.
