Night Mix opens with a bright, slightly green flicker of Italian bergamot and basil sharpened by pink pepper - the spicy lead-in to Giorgio Armani's Eau de Nuit (2013). The heart is a cascade of warm spices: cardamom front and centre, nutmeg and a powdery iris-orris that lends an elegant, slightly cosmetic softness. The base is dark and sweet, with tonka bean, a touch of dry tobacco, cedarwood and amber giving that opulent Italian-night warmth. Perfume Parlour's interpretation captures Eau de Nuit's spicy, sensual, evening-ready character convincingly, but it reads a fraction flatter, the spices a touch louder and rougher up top and the powdery iris heart thinner than the polished designer blend. Where the original holds a solid several hours with moderate projection, here longevity is more modest. The effect stays mysterious and grown-up - a dark, spicy-woody scent for autumn and winter, with enough lift for cool spring, at home on evenings, dates and dressier occasions.
