Potent Seed opens with a brief lift of tangerine, lavender and bergamot before a fiery heart of clove and cinnamon takes hold, the unmistakable spark of Frederic Malle's Musc Ravageur. The base is where it lives: warm amber, creamy vanilla and tonka wrapped in soft musk, with sandalwood, guaiac and cedar lending a woody undertone. On skin it wears as a sensual, cosy spiced-musk, the kind that smells like warm skin and spiced pudding. Where the original feels plush, complex and faintly animalic with a strong opening bloom, the dupe is more linear and skin-close, the musk reading cleaner and the spice less refined.
