Pineward Perfumes Borealis is an Extrait de Parfum launched in 2023, created by Nicholas Nilsson. Pineward Perfumes's Borealis carries an Acquired verdict, a musk-led wear.

Borealis smells like a cold coastal forest, with sea water, camphor and pine needle packed into one sharp, resinous scent. It is not an easy crowd-pleaser, but if you want fir and mint rather than flowers, it is a distinctive outdoor pick.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Borealis is a cool, resinous, woody scent built around the outdoors. Sea water, camphor and peppermint give it a sharp, icy edge, while pine needle, fir and wintergreen add a green, evergreen bite. Incense, valerian and ash bring a smoky, slightly earthy depth, and black elder and black tea soften the edges. Patchouli, sandalwood, treemoss and iris sit underneath, with musk and ambergris adding a quiet, skin-like warmth. It feels crisp, clean and wild, more like a walk through a frosty forest by the sea than a polished city fragrance.
