Rebel Oasis takes on Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc, a fragrance beloved for its beachy coconut-and-white-floral character. Soleil Blanc builds a rich, sun-lotion accord from pistachio, tuberose and ylang-ylang over a warm coconut-amber base that can run six to ten hours. Rebel Oasis captures the same coconut-tropical opening with pineapple and bergamot standing in for the pistachio, and the jasmine-frangipani heart nods to the original's white florals without the same creamy depth. The amber-musk-sandalwood base is pleasant but noticeably lighter and shorter-lived, settling into a plain sweet skin scent well before the original even begins its slow fade. A solid holiday-mood scent for the price, but it trades Soleil Blanc's opulence and staying power for something breezier and far more fleeting.
