Roos & Roos Malamata is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2022. Malamata opens with Mastic, Violet Leaf, Galbanum, and Peppermint, settles into a heart of Rose, Lily Of The Valley, Sage, and Wormwood, and dries down to a base of Musk, Patchouli, Ambergris, and Hay. Roos & Roos's Malamata carries a Favourite verdict, a green-led wear.

Dominique Ropion builds a green floral around the smell of a nettle patch: peppermint, galbanum and violet leaf over lily of the valley and rose, landing on hay, patchouli and ambergris. Sharp, grown-up and quietly brilliant.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer
Also Works:
Fall

Galbanum, violet leaf, peppermint and lily of the valley are cool green materials tied to spring growth, and the hay and ambergris base gives just enough warmth for early autumn.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual
Also Works:
Date Formal

Moderate projection and a dry, non-sweet green floral profile make it easy in an office or daytime setting, while the sharpness limits its appeal as a romantic evening choice.

About

Malamata takes its cue from the nettle, the plant nobody wants, and turns that into one of the more interesting green florals on the niche shelf. The opening is genuinely bracing: peppermint supplies a cold snap, galbanum brings the bitter sap-and-stem smell that makes vintage green chypres feel expensive, and violet leaf adds that wet, cucumber-adjacent crispness. Mastic rounds out the top with a faintly resinous herbal edge. The heart softens without ever going sweet. Lily of the valley and rose essence give it recognisable flower shape, but sage and a thread of wormwood keep pulling the bouquet back towards the hedgerow, so it reads as a garden rather than a perfume counter. The base is where Ropion shows his hand: hay brings a dry, sunlit warmth, patchouli adds earth, and an ambergris accord with musk gives the drydown a soft mineral glow that carries for hours. Longevity is good for a green composition, around six to eight hours, with moderate projection that settles close after the first hour. Spring is its natural season, though it holds up through summer evenings and into early autumn. Wear it to work, to a gallery, or anywhere you want something considered rather than flirtatious. The lane is classic French green floral, and it is far more Frederic Malle than high-street fresh.
