Lancome's La Vie Est Belle turned the sweet iris-praline gourmand into one of the best-selling women's fragrances of the last decade, opening on juicy pear and blackcurrant before an iris-jasmine-orange blossom heart settles into a rich praline-vanilla-patchouli base that can carry a room for a full day. Copycat's Belle follows the same structure note for note, and the opening fruit is a solid match - the pear-blackcurrant combination is bright and immediately recognisable as chasing this exact fragrance. The praline-vanilla base also arrives in the right sweet, gourmand direction, giving a genuinely happy, feel-good character close to the original's warm charm. Where the gap shows is texture and depth: La Vie Est Belle's iris has an almost powdery, luxurious weight to it that gives the whole composition body, while this dupe's iris-jasmine heart is comparatively thin, and the sweetness fades to something plainer within a few hours instead of building the way the original does. It's a genuinely pleasant, accessible sweet floral in its own right, just not the rich all-day performer the original built its reputation on.
