The Essence Vault Code is an Eau de Parfum. Code opens with Bergamot and Lemon, settles into a heart of Olive Blossom, Guaiac Wood, and Star Anise, and dries down to a base of Leather, Tonka Bean, and Tobacco. The Essence Vault's Code carries a Favourite verdict, a fresh-led wear.

The Essence Vault's interpretation of Armani's Armani Code (2004) - Antoine Maisondieu, Antoine Lie and Clement Gavarry's lemon-anise-tobacco signature, here translated into a budget reading with the bergamot-anise-tobacco-leather spine still legible. Honest dupe-fidelity for evening and date wear.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

About

Inspired by Code is The Essence Vault's budget reading of Giorgio Armani Armani Code, the 2004 lemon-anise-tobacco-leather oriental-spicy by a Maisondieu-Lie-Gavarry trio that became the polished evening masculine of the mid-2000s. EV's pyramid mirrors the original community pyramid closely: a lemon-bergamot opening, a star-anise-led heart with olive blossom and guaiac wood in support, and a base built on tobacco, leather and tonka. The first hour is the strongest match: lemon lifts the opening with bergamot supporting, and the star anise is already pushing through as Code's defining note. By the heart star anise dominates with its sweet-licorice-spicy character, olive blossom adding a faint floral lift and guaiac wood beginning the woody anchor, and the dry-down trades on tobacco and leather for the polished oriental close with tonka contributing warmth. Performance is the budget compromise: six to eight hours of moderate sillage rather than the longer projection wearers report on the Armani original. The character is sophisticated-warm-masculine, with autumn through winter the strongest seasons and date, evening, and formal the natural settings, with autumn through winter the strongest seasons and date, evening, and formal the natural settings. The honest caveat: at fifty millilitres for twenty-five pounds the tobacco-leather depth and the smooth anise-tonka polish that give the Armani bottle its addictive sophistication are softened here. For wearers curious about the polished mid-2000s oriental masculine before committing to an eighty-pound bottle, this is a faithful enough sketch. Sits next to other budget anise-tobacco masculine dupes in the dupe-house neighbourhood, while the original sits with Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Mugler A*Men, and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male in the oriental-spicy masculine conversation.
