Al Majed Oud
Saudi oud-focused brand offering modernized Middle Eastern-style fragrances at relatively accessible prices.
Al Majed Oud (Al Majed for Oud) is one of the Gulf's largest oud and perfume houses. It traces its origins to 1956, when Sheikh Ali bin Othman Al Majed began trading in the wholesale of oud (agarwood) and saffron; the company was formally established/incorporated in 1982. Headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it grew over more than six decades into a vertically integrated manufacturer and retailer of oud, musk, incense, oriental and western perfumes, perfume oils and air fresheners. Its factory operates across more than 5,000 square metres with a stated production capacity of tens of thousands of products per day. The group operates a large retail network of roughly 280-300 stores across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar, offering hundreds of products spanning many in-house brands. In 2024 the company moved toward a public listing, conducting an IPO on the Saudi Tadawul exchange (ticker 4165), reportedly raising around USD 188 million. Although the task framed it as Qatari, the house is Saudi-headquartered with a pan-Gulf footprint that includes Qatar. On Fragrantica it is catalogued as an Arabian/Middle Eastern designer house.
A arabian, mid house known for oud compositions.
Within the online community, Al Majed Oud is perceived as part of the new wave of Saudi and Gulf-region brands exporting oud-style fragrances to international markets, including launches and availability in countries such as the UK via distributors.[5] Their catalog since 2019 shows a move from purely local-style heavy oud to more hybrid profiles that blend Western gourmand and fresh facets with Middle Eastern woods and resins.[3][4] The brand has increasingly collaborated with internationally known perfumers, which suggests a push toward broader global recognition and more polished, designer-adjacent compositions.[3]
Al Majed Oud is a solid option if you want bold, oud-leaning Middle Eastern scents with strong performance without paying niche prices. If you expect ultra-refined, natural ouds or very subtle compositions, this will likely feel too loud and synthetic-leaning.
