Hiram Green
All-natural, small-batch artisan perfumes with unexpectedly strong character and performance.
Hiram Green is an independent perfume brand created by Canadian perfumer Hiram Green, who has been working under his own name since 2013. Before launching the label, he founded the Scent Systems perfumery in London, then moved to the Netherlands to focus on composing fragrances exclusively with natural materials. He lives and works near Amsterdam and develops and produces his perfumes in his studio in Gouda, The Netherlands.
The brand is built around 100% natural formulas made in small batches, using ingredients that are described as sustainable, ethically sourced, GMO-free and cruelty-free. Green introduced his first perfume, Moon Bloom, in 2013, and in 2019 his leather fragrance Hyde received the Art & Olfaction Award in the Artisan category, a prize that specifically recognizes independent, experimental perfumery. Retailers and the brand itself consistently describe the scents as intense, opulent and expressive, with colors that come directly from the raw materials rather than added dyes.
Hiram Green’s work is often cited by stockists as an answer to the criticism that natural fragrances are weak or short-lived, highlighting strong performance and distinctive character despite the all-natural palette. All compositions are authored by Hiram Green himself, keeping creative control tightly in-house and positioning the brand firmly within the artisan and indie niche segment.
A indie, luxury house known for natural florals compositions.
Since the launch of Moon Bloom in 2013, the brand has expanded from lush white florals into themes like dark leather (Hyde), green chypre and gourmand-leaning compositions, while keeping a strict all-natural formula policy. Over time, the technical polish and complexity of the perfumes have increased, as reflected in industry recognition such as the 2019 Art & Olfaction Artisan award for Hyde. Despite growing critical attention, production remains small-batch and hands-on in Gouda, rather than scaling up or diluting the concept.
Hiram Green is one of the few fully natural houses that can convincingly compete with mainstream and niche synthetics on intensity and character. If you like bold, crafted perfumes and do not mind a higher price and limited availability, this is a line well worth sampling.
