Maison Mataha
French niche house focused almost entirely on intense, long-lasting gourmand perfumes.
Maison Mataha is a Paris-based niche perfume house founded in 2020 by a perfume-loving couple and collectors who set out to create their ideal dark, intense vanilla scent. According to the brand’s own story, the line began as a response to an “obsession” and an unmet desire for a particular style of vanilla that did not exist on the market. That search led to their debut release, Escapade Gourmande, composed by perfumer Vincent Ricord in collaboration with CPL Aromas.
Escapade Gourmande, built around black sugar, vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin and musk, quickly became the brand’s signature and defined its direction toward rich gourmand compositions. Subsequent launches such as Brownie Pop, Evasion Bonbon, Peche Velours and Printemps Blanc expand that theme with edible accords like caramel, strawberry candy, popcorn, chocolate and biscuit, frequently contrasted with florals such as orange blossom, jasmine sambac, violet and tuberose. The fragrances are crafted in France and emphasize strong trail and lasting power, a point highlighted by stockists who note the founders’ focus on sillage and longevity.
By 2025, the collection had grown to at least five publicly discussed scents plus a newer release, Cafe des Delices, all consistently centered on gourmand accords. Retailers in Europe and the US list the line at a unified price point near 190 EUR for full bottles, placing Maison Mataha firmly in the niche luxury segment while keeping a compact, tightly focused catalog.
A niche, luxury house known for gourmand compositions.
The brand started in 2020 with Escapade Gourmande, a vanilla-centric gourmand that set the template for dark, sugary, long-lasting compositions. Subsequent releases broadened the edible spectrum to include brownie, popcorn, strawberry candy, marshmallow and peach facets, while introducing airier touches such as white tea and citrus in Printemps Blanc. Newer launches like Cafe des Delices suggest a gradual move into café and beverage-inspired accords while maintaining the core gourmand DNA.
If you love loud, sweet, vanilla-driven gourmands with serious longevity, Maison Mataha is worth seeking out. If you prefer understated, sheer or non-sweet perfumery, this house will likely feel overwhelming.
