Pana Dora
Swedish niche house blending Middle Eastern richness with nature-driven, high-impact compositions.
Pana Dora is a Swedish niche perfume house founded in 2019 by Syrian-Swedish perfumer Ibrahim Al-Zoubi in the town of Emmaboda, Sweden, according to Parfumo and the brand's own materials. Al-Zoubi immigrated from Syria in 1988 and spent more than 30 years working as a perfumer for major international companies before starting his own brand, after decades spent traveling in search of rare aromatic raw materials.
The brand is closely tied to Swedish landscapes and culture. Parfumo notes that its fragrances and names are conceived to mirror Swedish nature, from forests and rivers to everyday life. Compositions such as Imperial Wood (centered on leather and oud), Aqua de Dora (with sandalwood, chestnut, and fig), Velvet Iris (vanilla, musk, amber), and Grand Musk (musk, guaiac wood, magnolia) illustrate the house's preference for rich woods, musks, and resinous nuances. The distinctive bottles, capped with a sculpted moose or Swedish deer head, are a core visual signature highlighted by both the brand site and media coverage.
Pana Dora positions itself as a high-impact, long-lasting line that merges Middle Eastern perfume sensibilities with a Swedish thematic focus. Its stated goal, documented by Parfumo, is to condense different facets of Sweden into perfume so that customers can take home a personal, place-specific olfactory impression. Over time the catalog has expanded from early nature-inspired launches to include more overtly luxurious, statement-making extraits while maintaining the same bottle design and Sweden-centered storytelling.
A niche, luxury house known for woody compositions.
The brand began by emphasizing Sweden-inspired compositions that translated forests, mountains, and rivers into perfume themes, often with prominent woods and musk. As the collection expanded, Pana Dora introduced more overtly luxurious and opulent extraits, reinforcing Middle Eastern-style richness while keeping Sweden as the narrative backdrop. Over time, note structures have become more layered and complex, but the focus on strong performance and collectible presentation has stayed consistent.
Pana Dora is a strong choice if you want dense, oud- and amber-rich perfumes with a clear storytelling angle and are comfortable with bold projection. If you prefer understated, airy compositions or need easy in-store access, this house will likely feel too intense and niche-focused.
