About

A mug of hot, cloudy apple cider, the unfiltered non-alcoholic drink made from apples, mulled with cinnamon, cloves and orange.

Scent Profile

Apple Cider smells of ripe, sweet apple warmed with cinnamon and clove. A twist of mulled orange peel lifts the top. Underneath sits a soft, burnt-sugar vanilla, gently spiced rather than heavy. It has no alcohol and none of the pastry or butter of a baked apple dessert.

Origin

Made from apples and left unfiltered, unsweetened and non-alcoholic, as the drink is made in the United States and Canada. It is often heated just below boiling with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and orange peel. In perfume it is an accord, built from apple notes with warm spice and citrus.

Usage in Perfumery

Used as a warm, spiced-apple note. Perfumers build it from ripe apple with cinnamon and clove, add orange or citrus rind on top and a soft vanilla or burnt-sugar base. It suits cosy and home-fragrance styles.
