Note Profile
Cacao
Rich, creamy cacao fat
Cacao butter has a rich, creamy aroma with subtle chocolate undertones and a soft, milky sweetness. Its scent is less intense than raw cocoa, offering a smooth, comforting warmth with faint nutty and buttery nuances. Over time, it remains mellow and enveloping, contributing a plush gourmand facet.
Cacao butter is obtained by cold-pressing roasted seeds of the Theobroma cacao tree, primarily cultivated in West Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. The extracted fat is refined for use in both culinary and perfumery applications.
Perfumers use cacao butter mainly in the heart and base of gourmand and oriental fragrances to impart creaminess and depth. It blends well with vanilla, tonka bean, spices, and floral notes, enhancing edible accords and adding a soft, luxurious texture.
