About

Guava leaf oil is an essential oil steam distilled from the leaves of the guava tree. It smells woody and herbal with a fresh, spicy edge, and is very different from the sweet guava fruit.

Scent Profile

Guava leaf smells woody first, a dry, slightly spicy wood with a herbal, leafy side. A fresh citrus lift sits on top, and some noses read a soft fruitiness there too. A faint mint comes forward as it dries down, over a light balsamic warmth. It is nothing like the sweet, ripe guava fruit.

Origin

Steam distilled from the leaves of Psidium guajava, for example in Thailand. The oil is rich in beta-caryophyllene and d-limonene, with some 1,8-cineole. No leaf absolute was found.

Usage in Perfumery

Sold mainly for aromatherapy and toothpaste, so its fine-fragrance use is thin. In perfume it gives a woody, herbal accent.
