Origin

Salix alba, the white willow, is a riverside tree of Europe and western Asia. Its bark is sold as a cosmetic extract, not as a fragrance material. Perfumers build the note as an accord. One aromatherapy seller says willow macerated in oil smells medicinal, spicy, green and sweet.

Usage in Perfumery

Perfumers use White Willow as a fresh, green-woody theme in the heart. It sits with amber, vetiver, soft woods and musk. Jo Malone London Willow & Amber (2019) is the best-known use.
