A prepared gourmand accord. Caramelised nuts carry a cold, rose-tinged lychee fruit on top. Nobody sells it as one material. Perfumers build it by pairing a lychee note with a praline base.

Scent Profile

Nutty leads because the praline half is the base the accord is built on, and the source describes it as 'warm, toasted, nutty-sweet - caramelised hazelnuts scraped from a copper pan'. Fruity sits just under it: the lychee is the reason the note has its own name, but it is a modifier on a nut base rather than the base itself. Sweet_vanillic comes from the 'coumarin warmth' the praline source names, matching the published praline note's own 0.60 and pulled down a little because the fruit takes room. Lactonic is the 'lactone creaminess' the same source names in the drydown. Floral is the lychee's own character, which the lychee source describes three separate times as rose: 'rose-metallic', 'rose-fruit fusion', 'faintly rose-adjacent'. Tropical carries the fruit's origin, lower than litchi's own 0.30 would suggest only because the caramel dampens it. Coffee_cacao is capped by the source saying the accord is 'less bitter than dark chocolate' - present, but named as the limit rather than the thing.

Origin

Not a raw material. Every source found treats lychee praline as two separately sourced notes placed together in one composition. The praline half is an accord built on ethyl maltol, coumarin and lactones. The lychee half is built on cis-rose oxide with beta-damascenone behind it. Alkemia's Carmen 7 lists 'exotic lychees' and 'decadent french pralines' as two entries in the same note list, which is how the pairing is normally written.

Usage in Perfumery

A modern fruity-gourmand pairing. It sits in the heart and base of sweet fruity perfumes, where the lychee lifts a nut-and-caramel base that would otherwise read as flat confectionery. Attested on 2 Parfumo entries across 2 brands and 0 Fragrantica entries, so the term is real but uncommon.
