Mineral moss is a salty, stony base effect, not a plant and not a raw material. The one brand that uses the term descriptively reads it as cold wet stone and sea salt carried on Ambroxan. Despite the name, no source gives it the damp forest-floor character of real moss.
Scent Profile
Mineral Moss smells salty and mineral, like cold, wet stone or dry, sun-bleached sand. A briny, aquatic freshness runs through it, salt on stone rather than salt in seawater. Underneath sits a soft, clean musk and an amber warmth from the base. Despite the name, it carries none of the damp, forest-floor character of real moss.

Origin
No supplier lists an essential oil, absolute or CAS number for mineral moss. Parfumo files the term under both its Mineral notes and its Moss / Mossy notes categories but publishes no odour prose of its own. The only descriptive use found is Experimental Perfume Club's own copy for Sable Gris, which pairs the term with Ambroxan: "An overdose of Ambroxan and mineral moss floods through like a wave, salty and stony." The same page adds "Dry grey sand and sun-bleached stone, the mineral tang of salt held in the air." The wider mineral-accord literature agrees on the register. Olfactive Aesthetics describes mineral notes as "reminiscent of damp concrete or river-worn stone - saline and slightly powdery, yet airy and abstract". Perfume Stars calls the effect "clean, abstract, and multifaceted, often capturing the subtle nuances of stone, salt, and wet earth".
Usage in Perfumery
Parfumo records 6 perfumes containing mineral moss and says "It often occurs in the base note of a perfume." It is used as a cold, saline floor under spice and amber materials rather than as a green or chypre element. Experimental Perfume Club uses it twice in its own range, in Sable Gris and Cardamom Moss, both times alongside Ambroxan.
