ScentSeeker, a note-reference site, gives it a 'deep, soothing woody base' with spice at the opening resolving into a 'sensual resinous base'. Makesy, a perfumery-supplies retailer, sells a blend it calls a floriental wood accord and describes it as 'A sophisticated fusion of floral and amber notes adds a multi-layered warmth', with a buyer adding 'A little spicy and warm, but floral'. That is a neighbouring term rather than this one, and it is weighted accordingly. Guaiac wood is the kind of material the trade reaches for when building a dark wood accord, and Parfinity describes it as 'smoky, resinous, and slightly leathery' with 'subtle hints of tar, incense, and a medicinal undertone'.
