About
Siberian stone pine needle is the steam-distilled needle oil of Pinus sibirica, a five-needle stone pine of the Russian taiga. It reads woody and piney first, with a dry-balsamic body and a turpentine edge, and a fresh green-citrus top over it. Two small Russian vendors describe it and nobody else does, so every number here is held loose.
Scent Profile
Dry_woody leads and is the only facet both sources state. Ecosibir calls it 'a pleasant piney scent... woodsy' and the second vendor simply says 'woody'. Green is the needle itself. It is the weakest-sourced number of the five: only 'fresh' is written down, and green is carried here because the referent is distilled needles and every published conifer needle note in this vocabulary carries it. Amber_resinous is the 'dry-balsamic' half of Ecosibir's description, the resin body that separates a needle oil from a leaf. Aromatic_herbal is 'turpentine-like', the sharp terpene reading rather than a sweet one. Citrus comes from one source only, which lists 'citrusy' as one of its three words, so it is set below the level published for stone-pine-needle. Below the line, cooling_mentholic is inferred from the pinene body of a needle oil and is not stated by either source, and fresh_spice is a trace of the same terpene sharpness.

Origin
Pinus sibirica grows wild across Siberia and is the tree whose seeds are sold as cedar nuts. Ecosibir sells a steam-distilled oil from the needles, wild-crafted in Eastern Siberia around the Baikal region. A second Siberian vendor sells the same species distilled from needles and young shoots. The tree is called 'Siberian cedar' in Russian trade copy and 'Siberian pine' in English, and neither name is a cedar. That second name is a live trap: ScenTree's own catalogue states that 'The Siberian pine is a tree of the Pinaceae family and the genus Abies Mill.' and lists Abies sibirica fir needle oil under it, so at least one trade source sells a FIR under this note's name. One species over, Pinus cembra, the Swiss stone pine or Zirbe, is sold as 'Pine Oil, Cembra' and is a different species again.
