About
Snowberry as a fragrance note is a made-up winter accord, not a transcription of a plant. Two fragrance-oil vendors build it the same way: a berry and citrus top, a juniper, pine and balsam middle, and a sweet musky base.
Scent Profile
Fruity leads. Both vendors put fruit at the top, one naming raspberry with citron, the other calling the whole thing 'woody and sweet with gentle notes of fruit'. Dry_woody is the conifer half, juniper berry and pine needle in one pyramid and 'woody' in the other, and it is dry rather than creamy because the sources name needles and berries, not sandalwood. Clean_musk is the base both vendors give, described as aromatic musk. Green is the needle itself, which cannot be pine without being green. Sweet_vanillic is the sweetness the second vendor names directly. Under those sit balsam as amber_resinous, citron as citrus, juniper as fresh_spice, a small clove warm_spice from one of the two pyramids, and a cool conifer edge.

Origin
Named for Symphoricarpos albus, a shrub of western North America that carries white berry-like drupes about one to one and a half centimetres across through the winter. The berries have no perfumery use and the plant is not distilled. The USDA plant fact sheet records that the flowers have a strong unpleasant odour, so the note is named for how the fruit looks, not for how the plant smells.
Usage in Perfumery
Sold as a fragrance oil for candles and soap rather than as a perfumery raw material. It is used for cold-weather and forest framing, where the fruit gives lift and the conifer and musk give the body.
