A dash of black pepper carries the heart, giving it a peppery edge before the fragrance settles into a base of cedar and amber. Where it falls short of the original is complexity: Allure Homme Sport builds its longevity and sophistication through vetiver, white musk and a subtle mineral facet that keep it interesting across the whole wear, while Medalist's cedar-amber base is comparatively plain and fades to a soft, generic warmth much sooner. It still nails the recognisable citrus-aquatic opening that fans of the original look for, making it a decent budget stand-in for gym bags, casual daytime wear or sport settings, even if it won't match Chanel's staying power or refinement come the evening.
