Retro Flare (Silver) chases the crisp, gin-like juniper-and-coriander opening that made Gentle Fluidity Silver a cult favourite, and the top notes land reasonably close in character, if brighter and more synthetic-smelling than the original's polished aromatic freshness. The cedar-and-iris heart is simplified compared to the original's more textured ambery woods, and the white musk base, while pleasant, is louder and less refined than the original's famously subtle sillage - Gentle Fluidity Silver was often described as projecting no further than a few inches off the skin, whereas this version announces itself more. That trade-off will suit people who found the original too shy for their taste. Longevity is respectable for the price point, holding for several hours before fading to a clean musk. It's a fair, accessible way to sample the fresh-aromatic-musk genre, though purists who love the original's restraint may find this version a touch too assertive.
