Gucci Guilty's mix of mandarin, pink pepper and bergamot opening onto a peachy, black-currant-tinged floral heart and a patchouli-amber base is a fairly distinctive formula, and No. 042 tracks it closely. The top notes give a citrusy, spicy lift that echoes Guilty's confident opening reasonably well. The heart layers geranium, peach, lilac, black currant and jasmine for a fruity-floral bouquet that captures the mood of the original, if a little brasher and less seamlessly blended. The base settles into patchouli and amber with a touch of vanilla and musk, giving a warm, sensual finish that gets close to Guilty's signature without matching its smoothness.
