Dupe Perfumes Lime Basil & Mandarin is an Eau de Parfum. Lime Basil & Mandarin opens with Bergamot, Mandarin, and Lime, settles into a heart of Iris, Lilac, Thyme, and Basil, and dries down to a base of Vetiver, Patchouli, and Amberwood. Dupe Perfumes's Lime Basil & Mandarin carries a Statement verdict, a citrus-led wear.

Dupe Herbal Zest captures the tart lime-and-basil snap that made Jo Malone's Lime Basil & Mandarin a cult classic, though its patchouli-vetiver base fades to a thin herbal fuzz well before the original's slow-burning drydown.

About

Jo Malone's Lime Basil & Mandarin earned cult status for one reason: that opening. Sour, green lime crashes into peppery basil within seconds, and Dupe Herbal Zest reproduces the effect convincingly - the lime here is genuinely tart rather than the sweeter, candied citrus budget colognes often lean on. Bergamot and mandarin orange round the top out, keeping it bright rather than sharp. The heart carries basil's medicinal, almost salty edge alongside thyme, lilac and iris, echoing the original's herb-garden character reasonably well, though the iris and lilac sit further back here than in Jo Malone's version, leaving basil and thyme to do most of the work. Where the gap widens is the base. Jo Malone's patchouli-vetiver drydown is famously understated but persistent, letting the fragrance become an intimate skin scent rather than vanishing outright. Dupe Herbal Zest's amberwood-patchouli-vetiver base is noticeably thinner and loses definition faster, so the herbal-citrus identity that makes this fragrance recognisable doesn't linger the way it does on the original. It is, in other words, a very faithful first two hours and a much shorter tail. For anyone who loves the opening burst of Lime Basil & Mandarin but reapplies through the day anyway, that trade-off barely matters.
