No.435 opens with a dense spiced-lavender top: nutmeg, coriander, anise, cinnamon, basil, bergamot and cardamom all layered together for an assertive, old-school aromatic opening. Geranium, carnation, jasmine and iris bring a classic fougere heart, before the base settles into oakmoss, tobacco, sandalwood, cedar, musk, amber and tonka bean. This is an authoritative, formal fragrance that recalls the serious, black-suit-and-tie masculinity of late-80s and early-90s classics like Yves Saint Laurent's Jazz.
