Eden Perfumes No.070 Knowing is an Eau de Parfum. No.070 Knowing opens with Rose, Tuberose, Mimosa, and Coriander, settles into a heart of Pittosporum, Orange Blossom, Cedar, and Patchouli, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, and Vetiver. Eden Perfumes's No.070 Knowing carries an Acquired verdict, a chypre-led wear.

Eden's take on Estee Lauder's cult-classic Knowing softens the original's famously funky, civet-heavy chypre into a cleaner, more wearable mossy-floral - a gentler introduction to the genre, though purists chasing that raw, old-school chypre depth will still want the real thing.

About

No.070 is Eden Perfumes' interpretation of Knowing, a fragrance that has held cult status among chypre lovers since its 1988 launch. It opens with a classic aldehydic flourish - aldehydes, mimosa and rose layered with coriander, plum, tuberose and melon - before moving into a dense floral-green heart of patchouli, cardamom, cedar, bay leaf, iris, jasmine, orange blossom, lily of the valley and pittosporum. The base leans into oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, amber and musk, echoing the mossy, dry chypre structure that made the original a French-perfumery landmark. What this version doesn't fully chase is Knowing's more challenging edge - reviewers describe the real thing as a genuinely funky, almost fecal civet-and-honey chypre, dry and aromatic in a way that isn't for everyone. This dupe keeps the moss, spice and floral bones intact while smoothing over that rawer animalic quality, making it a more approachable entry point into old-school chypre territory. It still reads as sophisticated and distinctly vintage-leaning rather than modern-fresh, best suited to autumn and winter, formal settings, or anyone who wants a taste of classic French perfumery without the department-store price or the full intensity of the 1988 original.
