Oud Wood Intense is Tom Ford's darker, more concentrated reinterpretation of the original Oud Wood, adding cypress, juniper, angelica and a smoky castoreum-leather edge that shares little common ground with its lighter sibling despite the name. Eden Perfumes' No.247 follows this reformulated structure directly, opening with a bold oud note rather than the rosewood-cardamom start of the standard Oud Wood, which correctly signals that this is meant to be the more intense, smokier composition. The heart brings cypress and juniper together for a sharp, resinous, slightly green woodiness that captures a genuine sliver of the original's darker character. The base rounds out with angelica, ginger and leather, giving a spicy, slightly animalic finish that gestures toward the castoreum-driven depth Tom Ford's version is known for, even if it can't fully replicate that particular note's complexity. Where this dupe succeeds is in tone: it reads noticeably bolder and smokier than Eden's own standard Oud Wood interpretation, correctly distinguishing the two the way the originals are meant to be distinguished. Performance is moderate for a dupe, a solid few hours of smoky, leathery presence before fading, making it a reasonable option for evening wear when a more intense oud statement is wanted.
