332 Pomegranate Noir

332 opens with a tart, juicy rush of raspberry, pomegranate, plum, rhubarb and watermelon, an ambitious note list that captures the sharp, fruity punch Pomegranate Noir is known for. Lily, jasmine, rose, pink pepper and clove build a spiced floral heart that tracks the original's structure closely, with rose doing much of the work to bridge the tart fruit and the warmer base. Cedar, patchouli, musk and amber finish things with a soft, musky warmth, though it stops well short of the honeyed, almost boozy richness that gives the real Pomegranate Noir its cult reputation. As an oil, it wears light and close to the skin, making it a pleasant, easy-going fruity-floral for daily wear rather than the statement niche piece the original is often reached for. The tart-fruit-and-rose idea is well captured even if the depth is scaled back.
