Judith Leiber Topaz is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2011, created by Hugh Spencer. Topaz opens with Kiwi, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, and Mango, settles into a heart of Water Lily, Taif Rose, Jasmine, and Violet Leaf, and dries down to a base of Musk, Cedar, Sandalwood, and Oud. Judith Leiber's Topaz carries an Acquired verdict, a green-led wear.

Divisive, complex, and utterly unique, this 'grown-up sweet' oriental floral is a smoky, woody ride with surprising fruity flashes. Not for the faint-hearted, but a cult classic for those who get it.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

A cold-weather scent - best worn in autumn and winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

Its strong sillage and moderate longevity make it better suited for evening wear and special occasions where its unique character can shine. While some find it office-appropriate, its intensity might be too much for a professional setting, and it's definitely not for casual daytime or sport.

About

Topaz opens with an unexpected fruity booziness, a strange blend of kiwi, mango, and blackcurrant that quickly gives way to a smoky, resinous heart. Myrrh and frankincense dominate, weaving through a subtle floral bouquet of Taif rose and ylang-ylang. The drydown is a deeply woody affair, with oud, sandalwood, and guaiac wood providing a rich, almost pipe-tobacco like warmth, all grounded by a sophisticated vanilla and patchouli base.
