Metalica

Metalica is Maison Alhambra's nod to Tom Ford's Metallique, opening with the same aldehyde-and-pink-pepper crystalline accord that gives the Tom Ford its distinctive cold-metal character. Bergamot adds a quick citrus lift in the first five minutes, with the aldehydes reading slightly softer and less sharp than the original's piercing edge. The heart pulls in white floral notes, heliotrope, hawthorn and lily of the valley, building the powdery floral bouquet that the Tom Ford is known for. The composition is not as transparent or technically tuned as the Metallique, but the DNA is clearly recognisable across the first three hours. The dry-down is where Metalica makes its case, with vanilla dominating, supported by sandalwood, ambrette seed, Peruvian balsam and a quiet musk. The vanilla reads creamier and softer than the Metallique's powdery-vanilla finish, with the balsam adding a slight resinous warmth that the Tom Ford keeps cleaner. Reviewers describe it as really good and very similar to the Tom Ford with reasonable longevity in the four-to-six hour range. In the dupe-house landscape it sits in the aldehydic-vanilla powdery lane alongside Lattafa Mahir and other niche-vanilla budget interpretations, with Metalica reading a touch creamier and warmer where the Tom Ford leans cooler and more crystalline.
