Dark Matter

Perfume Parlour Dark Matter is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2016. Dark Matter opens with Blackcurrant, settles into a heart of Rose, Jasmine, Narcissus, and Cyclamen, and dries down to a base of Oud, Benzoin, Incense, and Patchouli. Perfume Parlour's Dark Matter carries a Statement verdict, a floral-led wear.

A budget take on Louis Vuitton Matiere Noire. The wine-dark blackcurrant opening, smoky rose-and-oud heart and incense-patchouli base capture the original's dark, chapel-like character, though the dupe wears flatter and skin-closer - the nuclear longevity and resinous depth are softened.

About

Dark Matter opens with a wine-stained burst of blackcurrant before deepening into the dark rose-oud heart that defines its inspiration: Bulgarian rose and jasmine sambac laced with narcissus and cyclamen, smoky and damp rather than sweet. The drydown turns resinous and shadowy - oud, benzoin, incense and patchouli building a long-burning, chapel-like base. Inspired by Louis Vuitton Matiere Noire, it chases that dark rose-oud oriental DNA, where smoky resin meets damp petals. As a Perfume Parlour version it renders the composition flatter and skin-closer, with the inexpensive blackcurrant and rose weighted up and the precious oud and incense facets softened, so it projects less than the original's near-nuclear performance. The result is a mysterious, smoky dark-rose that captures the dramatic mood of Matiere Noire for a fraction of the price.
