Strange Horizon follows Aramis New West for Him, the historic 1988 fragrance famous as the first aquatic ever made. It opens with marine notes, lavender, mint, aldehydes, artemisia and bergamot, soapy and herbal rather than the sweet aquatics that came after. A heart of pine, juniper berries, bay leaf, coriander, geranium and watermelon evokes a seashore beside a pine forest on a cloudy day, before a base of oakmoss, cedar, patchouli, musk, amber and leather grounds it. The original is prized for its unique soapy-herbal pine-and-ocean-mist character with strong but airy projection and 5-6 hour wear. This clone captures that distinctive aquatic-aromatic signature and the green pine facet, but the composition reads a little simpler and the mossy base projects closer with shorter wear. It's a fresh, characterful daytime scent that captures New West's pioneering spirit for pennies.
