Talisman Oud

Perfume Parlour Talisman Oud is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2025. Talisman Oud opens with Vanilla, settles into a heart of Burnt Sugar, and dries down to a base of Smoke and Cedar. Perfume Parlour's Talisman Oud carries a Statement verdict, a sweet-led wear.

A close budget read of Dior's Bois Talisman - that roasted-marshmallow-over-a-campfire idea of sweet vanilla on smoky cedar. Talisman Oud nails the cosy core but pushes the smoke harder and drier, reading more like tobacco-smoke than the original's polished log-fire glow. The Dior's refinement is traded for a slightly louder, simpler sweetness, but for the price it gets you most of the way there.

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

Sweet smoky vanilla and cedar are unmistakably cold-weather, glowing best on crisp autumn and winter days; the sugary smoke would feel cloying in summer heat.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Casual

Cosy and a little sensual, it suits evenings, dates and relaxed cold-weather days more than the office or formal settings.

About

Talisman Oud chases Dior's Bois Talisman, the much-talked-about sweet-and-smoky woody that itself draws on the toasted-marshmallow idea of Margiela By the Fireplace. It opens on a generous swell of vanilla - creamy, almost edible - before a layer of sugar lifts the sweetness into gourmand territory. Then the smoke arrives, and here the dupe diverges: where the Dior keeps its smoke polished and ambient, like caramel marshmallows held over embers, Talisman Oud's smoke is drier and more tobacco-like, a touch louder and less refined. Cedarwood anchors the base, grounding the sweetness in real wood so the whole thing doesn't collapse into dessert. It is cosy, warm and quietly sensual - a clear cool-weather and evening scent - and the divergence from the original is mostly one of finish rather than character: the bones are the same, the smoke just smoulders a little harder. Longevity is respectable for a budget oil, holding its smoky-vanilla heart for several hours, though it won't match the beast-mode staying power reviewers report from the Dior. A genuinely satisfying winter comfort scent.
