Velvet Intox follows BORNTOSTANDOUT's Drunk Lovers: a rich, boozy opening of cognac and tart red berries cut with bright grapefruit, bergamot, juniper and lemon, sexy and effervescent. The heart brings aromatic heat - pepper and ginger over green clary sage and cypress - before the drydown turns warm and indulgent: vanilla and amber melting into sandalwood, musk and Virginia cedar, deepened by benzoin, cinnamon, cardamom, patchouli and vetiver. Against the original, the PP take keeps that intoxicating cognac-and-berry signature but tips into the sweet, sugary phase sooner and renders the tense, complex spiced heart simpler and flatter. Drunk Lovers was a strong cold-weather performer (8+ hours); this dupe holds reasonably for a budget oil but projects and lasts a bit less. A warm, boozy, sensual spicy-woody for cold-weather evenings and dates.
