SMEL.' Invictus goes after Paco Rabanne's blockbuster fresh-marine signature. The opening is a punchy blend of grapefruit and marine accord that captures the original's energising, cold-water freshness well, moving into bay leaf and jasmine that echo the aromatic heart of the real Invictus. The base of ambergris, oakmoss and guaiac wood aims for the same woody, slightly sweet foundation, but comes across noticeably lighter and less rich than the designer version's more textured drydown. Longevity and projection sit a notch below the original, settling into a clean skin scent sooner.
