About Barum Parfum

Barum Parfum is an independent Italian niche fragrance house founded in 2022 by Sicilian couple Gianluca Baudo and Grazia Baudo Artigiani. The company is based in Caltanissetta, Sicily, and its own website identifies Gianluca and Grazia as the founders. A 2025 interview with Grazia describes Butera as the couple's formative “place of the heart” and says the brand was created to express Sicily's culture and sensuality.

The house produces fragrances in a Sicilian craft setting, with Grazia Consiglio and Gianluca Baudo associated with the brand's perfumery work and Michele Carnevale credited on several compositions. Its catalogue includes Poseidone Intense, Petro Intense, Crono, Evan Intense and Caldera; Fragrantica records the earliest Barum Parfum releases as dating from 2022 and the newest as 2024. The range draws on leather, oud, woods, amber, vanilla, spices and other dense oriental materials rather than a predominantly light or minimalist style. Evan Intense, for example, combines oud and Brazilian rosewood with vanilla, cardamom, Sichuan pepper, sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean and amber.

  • → More artisanal and Sicilian in positioning than Mancera
  • → Less narrowly oud-focused than Montale
  • → Less mainstream and more experimental than Dior

Who It's For

Best For

  • Wearers seeking small-batch Italian niche perfumery
  • Fans of dense oriental, woody, leather and oud-led scents
  • Those interested in Sicilian cultural references
  • Evening and cooler-weather wear

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Distinct Sicilian identity
  • Dense, assertive scent profiles
  • Oud, leather and amber compositions
  • Small independent catalogue
  • Strong evening presence

Weaknesses

  • Limited brand catalogue
  • Heavy style can be demanding in warm weather
  • Lower accessibility than established designer houses
  • Limited independent review volume

Brand Evolution

The house began in 2022 with a compact collection linked to Sicily and artisanal production. Its subsequent range expanded to five documented fragrances, while the product line also developed scented body elixirs and related preparations. The brand continues to present itself as an independent, locally rooted house rather than a mass-market designer label.

Quick Verdict

Barum Parfum offers a focused alternative to mainstream Italian fragrance, with bold, persistent compositions and a clear Sicilian identity. Its limited range and heavy style will appeal to enthusiasts, but the house is not the most versatile choice for understated daytime wear.
