Iceberg
Italian sportswear designer line focusing on fresh, wearable, sporty fragrances at accessible prices.
Iceberg is an Italian fashion label founded in 1962 by husband and wife Silvano Gerani and Giuliana Marchini under the Gilmar Group, based in San Giovanni in Marignano in the Rimini area. The company started as a knitwear specialist and became known in fashion for technically advanced knit pieces and bold graphics.
In 1974, on the initiative of Giuliana Marchini, Iceberg expanded into a dedicated sportswear project, and its first womenswear collection followed in 1976. The brand later built a celebrity following, with figures such as Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, and rapper Lil' Flip documented among its customers. Alongside clothing, Iceberg added categories including shoes, sunglasses, accessories, and fragrance.
The first Iceberg perfume launched in 1989 as a fresh, floral fragrance for women composed by perfumer Sophie Labbé, featuring orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and lily of the valley. The house subsequently released a series of scents for both men and women, including Iceberg Homme in 1991 and the widely distributed Iceberg Twice line, first introduced in 1995. More recent launches include the Eau de Iceberg collection, Iceberg Man, Eau de Iceberg Amber Pour Homme, and Eau de Iceberg Wild Rose Pour Femme, with many bottles marked with the number 74 in reference to the key year in which the Iceberg sportswear project began.
Within perfumery, Iceberg tends to emphasize fresh, aromatic, and sporty compositions, often blending citrus, florals, woods, and musks in relatively wearable, everyday formats. Its fragrances are positioned as designer scents linked directly to the fashion brand rather than as a standalone perfume house.
A designer, mid house known for fresh citrus compositions.
Iceberg fragrance output in the late 1980s and 1990s reflected the era's aromatic fougere and fresh woody trends, with releases like Iceberg Homme (1991) and Iceberg Twice (1995) defining the brand's masculine identity. Over time, the house expanded with flankers and lines such as Eau de Iceberg, adding more modern citrus, aquatic, and sweet nuances while keeping an overall sporty, wearable character. In recent years the portfolio has focused more on maintaining heritage names like Twice through updated flankers rather than building a large roster of entirely new concepts.
Iceberg is a solid if understated designer option for people who like fresh, sporty scents and are shopping in the mid-price or discount segment. It will not impress fans of daring niche perfumery, but it offers honest, functional fragrances with a clear 90s designer character.
