Les Indémodables
French niche house focused on classical structures built with exclusive in‑house natural materials.
Les Indémodables is a French niche perfume house launched in 2016 and based around the creative partnership of Valérie and Rémi Pulvérail. Retailer and brand co‑founder Valérie Pulvérail set out to build a compact wardrobe of perfumes structured around the major classical fragrance families, while her husband Rémi Pulvérail brought his technical background as owner of L’Atelier Français des Matières, a laboratory dedicated to producing high grade natural raw materials. The brand operates under the parent company Le Bistro de la Beauté.
A defining feature of Les Indémodables is the in‑house development of exclusive natural ingredients through their own R&D, led by scientific director Jean‑Philippe Paris. These materials are produced specifically for the brand and are not sold on the open market, giving compositions like Chypre Azural, Ambre Supreme, Vanille Havane, Rose de Jamal and Musc des Sables a recognizable raw‑material signature. Perfumers such as Antoine Lie and Florence Fouillet Dubois work closely with the lab to build formulas that often overdose a central note or contrast familiar accords in an unexpected way.
Each fragrance is positioned as part of an “olfactory wardrobe,” with concentrations that range from eau de parfum to higher‑strength extraits such as Oranger Sirocco Extrait Absolu. The house is known among enthusiasts for unusually transparent communication on formula content, including indicating the percentage of costly naturals on the bottles. Across the line, the emphasis is on classic structures reworked with modern, high impact materials rather than on trend‑driven releases or crowd‑pleasing copycats.
A niche, luxury house known for chypre compositions.
The brand started with a compact line of six core scents covering pillars like chypre, fougere and musk, then gradually expanded into additional families such as amber, tobacco vanilla and orange‑centered compositions. Over time they have introduced higher concentration formats like Extrait Absolu, while keeping the focus on reworking classical genres with newly developed in‑house naturals rather than chasing seasonal trends. The overall direction has been incremental refinement and deeper exploration of specific raw materials rather than radical stylistic shifts.
Les Indémodables is a strong choice if you care more about raw material quality and classical structures than about hype or maximalist projection. If you want affordable, easygoing crowd‑pleasers, this house is unlikely to be the best fit.
