About

Hookah is the smell of shisha smoke: molasses-soaked tobacco, fruit flavouring, and the charcoal burning on top of it. It is sweet, thick and smoky at the same time. The fruit is a flavour layer over cured leaf, and the charcoal is the part that separates it from any tobacco note in a tin.

Scent Profile

Tobacco_hay leads because tobacco absolute is the first thing named in the build and the leaf is the body that everything else is layered onto. Smoky is second and is the facet that defines this note against every other tobacco note here - it is burning coal, not cured leaf, and the source names cade and birch tar as the way to get it. Fruity is the apple and grape flavouring, and it carries by far the widest spread in the vector at 0.24. The reason is that the fruit is the variable: apple is the default and the source's own summary says 'apple-flavored smoke', but shisha is also sold as grape, mint and rose, so a general hookah note cannot commit to fruit as hard as an apple-specific one can. Sweet_vanillic is the molasses, which is the constant across every shisha flavour and is named twice, as 'molasses-thick' and 'a faint molasses stickiness'. Honeyed is the honey named in the build, sitting just under the molasses because it is listed rather than described. Below the line, cooling_mentholic records the mint variant that the flavour-house source calls a standard part of the palette - it is real but it is one variant among several, so it gets a spread. Amber_resinous follows the source placing the note in the amber-gourmand family and pairing it with amber and oud. Warm_spice and leather are both set above zero without a direct quote, because tobacco absolute carries them in every other note here and asserting their absence would be a claim the sources do not make.

Origin

A composed accord, not an extract. Premiere Peau states it is built from tobacco absolute, fruity-sweet materials such as apple and grape, molasses and honey notes, and soft charcoal-smoke accords, and adds that the charcoal quality is made with cade oil or birch tar at low concentration - a real smoke material, not a metaphor. The real-world reference is mu'assel smoked in a water pipe. The flavour-house source adds that cooling or mint shisha is a recognised sub-type, blended alone or into other flavours for an icy exhale.

Usage in Perfumery

An amber-gourmand accord that carries social and Middle Eastern atmosphere. It pairs with oud, rose, amber and dried fruit, and it is the shape behind a whole family of lounge-themed orientals. Use it where a straight tobacco note would read too dry: the molasses and fruit keep it edible and the charcoal keeps it from being a candy.
