About
Distilled agarwood oil from Aquilaria trees grown in Vietnam. It sits at the sweet, clean end of the regional oud family. The trade separates it from Cambodian and Hindi oud on sweetness and on how much barnyard it carries.
Scent Profile
Dry_woody is the base, and no source disputes it. Above that sits the sweet end of the oud family. Fruity is the fermented tropical fruit and dried apricot that Premiere Peau names. Honeyed and sweet_vanillic carry the sweetness that the same source uses to place this oil above Cambodian oud. Amber_resinous is the warm woody-resinous dry-down described as persistent. Cooling_mentholic is the camphoraceous-medicinal lift, and it is the clearest single difference from the other regional ouds published here. Animalic is the least settled number in this vector and carries the widest spread at 0.30. One reviewer of a Vietnamese oil calls the barnyard restrained, arriving as soft leather rather than funk. Another reviewer of the same oil calls it very pungent, cheesy and full of barnyard. Leather is the restrained reading of that same character.

Origin
Resinous heartwood of Aquilaria species, mainly from central and southern Vietnam. The oil is steam- or hydro-distilled from infected wood. Nha Trang is the region most often named on labels.
