About
Green mandarin is mandarin oil pressed from the fruit before it ripens. It is tarter and less sweet than the ripe oil, with a bitter green edge and a soft orange-blossom undertone.
Scent Profile
Citrus leads and is not in question: three suppliers independently call it bright, tangy and fresh mandarin. Green is the facet that separates it from the ripe oil. Hermitage Oils calls it 'bitter green, tart' with 'a delightful green citrus tang throughout', and the fruit is picked green. Floral sits under that, and it is specifically neroli-like: Eden Botanicals writes 'a soft, floral (Neroli-like) undertone' and Hermitage writes 'neroli-floral', two sources arriving at the same flower. Fruity is present but held below the parent mandarin's level, because every source says this oil is the less sweet one. Sour carries the tartness the same three sources name: 'more astringent', 'not quite as sweet', 'more tart than our red mandarin oil'.

Origin
Cold-pressed from the peel of unripe Citrus reticulata. The fruit used is usually what the grower thins off the tree, either because the tree is carrying too much or because the fruit is malformed. Italy is the origin named by all three suppliers gathered. Unripe peel holds fewer sugars than ripe peel, which is the reason the oil reads sharper.
Usage in Perfumery
