Sulfurol
Note Profile
About
Milky, nutty thiazole with a meaty, sulphurous edge
Scent Profile
Sulfurol smells milky and nutty, like hazelnut skin and warm milk. A savoury, cooked side sits under it, close to beef juice or broth, with a fatty richness. A faint sulphurous, yeasty edge and an animal warmth run through it. It is mild and sweetish rather than sharp.

Smell words come from published sources.
A given perfume with this note may use this material, or something else.
Origin
Sulfurol is 4-methyl-5-thiazoleethanol, an aroma chemical of the thiazole family. It occurs in grilled meat, cognac, whiskey, cocoa absolute and peanuts, but it cannot be extracted from them, so the trade material is made by synthesis.
Usage in Perfumery
Fragrance suppliers say it is used in trace amounts, because it is weak on its own and needs stronger materials around it. It is used in sandalwood and fruity accords to hold a milky, creamy effect. Flavour houses use it for cooked-meat and roasted notes.
