4160 Tuesdays Serpent Queen is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2026, created by Sarah McCartney. Serpent Queen opens with Citron, Bergamot, Neroli, and Lavender, settles into a heart of Linden Tree, Rose, Jasmine, and Iris, and dries down to a base of Musk, Sandalwood, Oakmoss, and Ambroxan. 4160 Tuesdays's Serpent Queen carries a Statement verdict, a green-led wear.

A classical eau de cologne frame pulled somewhere stranger. Neroli, bergamot and citron open it bright and herbal, jasmine and Florentine orris give it a powdery heart, and then wormwood, oakmoss and a genuine mushroom absolute drag it into damp, earthy shade. Sarah McCartney built it around Catherine de' Medici, and the poisoner's reputation is audible in the base.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer

The citrus-and-neroli cologne opening and green herbal heart belong to warm, bright weather; the mossy, earthy base gives it just enough weight to carry into autumn, but it is too fresh to read well in deep winter.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual
Also Works:
Date

Cologne structures are the traditional daytime workhorse and this one is clean enough for an office, while the wormwood and mushroom give it enough oddity to be worth wearing somewhere people will ask about it.

About

Serpent Queen is the sixth fragrance 4160 Tuesdays has made in collaboration with the perfume magazine CaFleureBon, following White Queen, Red Queen, Dark Queen, Pirate Queen and Faerie Queen. It launched in May 2026 and takes Catherine de' Medici as its subject - the Florentine noblewoman who became queen consort of France, and who history nicknamed the Serpent Queen. The opening is deliberately traditional: neroli, bergamot, citron and lavender in the shape of a classical eau de cologne, which Sarah McCartney points out was an Italian idea before it was a German or French one. Chamomile cuts across the citrus with something drier and more herbal, and the brightness holds far longer than the structure suggests it should. The heart is where the Medici story enters. Jasmine gives it an indolic, slightly brooding richness, softened by a powdery veil of Florentine orris - a direct nod to Catherine's own city, which supplied the orris root that perfumed Renaissance Europe. Rose, geranium and linden keep it floral without tipping into sweetness. The base is the twist. Sandalwood and cruelty-free musks stand in for the animal materials of the period, ambroxan adds a saline lift, and then wormwood and boletus edulis - a real mushroom absolute - introduce a damp, earthy, faintly bitter undertow. Oakmoss anchors the whole thing in chypre territory. It is a reference to the poisoning legend that followed Catherine around, and it is what stops this being a straightforward green cologne. It is made in Hammersmith in small batches and is suitable for vegans. Sizes run 15ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml.
