The transition into raw leather and velvety black suede arrives quickly, and it's here the dupe both succeeds and shows its limits - the leather is recognisably close to the original's rugged hide accord, but rendered a touch smoother and less animalic. Olibanum and night-blooming jasmine add a sheer, incense-tinged floral facet through the heart, though with less presence than Tom Ford's more resinous original. The base resolves onto warm cedar and amber, leaving a smoke-kissed, fruited trail that's close-wearing rather than a room-filler.
