Invasion Barbare by MDCI is regarded by many as one of the great modern fougeres, and L'INVASION reproduces its note structure closely. Grapefruit and bergamot open with a sharp citrus flash alongside green violet leaf, before the fragrance moves into its defining lavender-and-cardamom heart, sharpened further by ginger and thyme for a distinctly aromatic, spicy character. The base settles into vanilla, musk and patchouli for a smooth, confident finish. As a highly concentrated extrait de parfum the projection is strong out of the gate, mirroring the original's reputation for presence. Where it falls short is in blending finesse - MDCI's version is prized for how seamlessly its aromatic and gourmand sides integrate over hours of wear, while this reproduction is more linear and settles into its vanilla-musk base sooner. Still, for fougere fans wanting the shape of a celebrated niche release without the MDCI price, it's a faithful outline.
