Sweetest Aoud goes straight for the gourmand-oud pairing that made Roja Dove's Sweetie Aoud a cult favourite - a rich, buttery pastry accord drizzled with burnt caramel sugar right from the opening spray. A resinous, smoky oud and warm gourmand spices move in for the heart, echoing the original's balance of sweetness and depth, though here the oud reads more like a suggestion than the smoky, complex agarwood the real Sweetie Aoud is built on. The base settles into vanilla, soft woods and amber for a comforting, sticky finish. It's a decent introduction to the gourmand-oud category for a fraction of the price, capturing the candy-shop sweetness convincingly, but it lacks the layered incense, patchouli and cumin complexity that give the original its projection and impressive longevity. Best worn on cold evenings when a rich, dessert-like trail feels right.
