Phantom

Phantom opens with ambrette and jasmine, soft and slightly powdery, before magnolia and violet build a delicate floral heart. Sandalwood, cedar and musk settle a warm, clean base. Byredo's original is celebrated for an almost weightless, skin-like transparency that lets the ambrette and magnolia barely register as anything more than a soft haze; this version keeps the same note skeleton but adds more body and warmth through the woody-musk base, which fills the scent out for stronger performance at the cost of some of that ethereal lightness. The ambrette-magnolia-sandalwood-musk arc still reads as a clear, convincing homage. It performs at a moderate level, versatile enough for the office and casual wear alike across spring and autumn.
