Penhaligon's As Sawira is a woody chypre built around agarwood, myrrh and labdanum, and No.706 follows the same architecture closely. Saffron and bergamot open the fragrance before a floral heart of rose, carnation and jasmine develops, settling into a dense base of oud, myrrh, amber and labdanum with woodsy undertones. The Penhaligon's original is prized for its unusually resinous, almost incense-heavy dry-down that layers several balsamic materials together - Eden's version gets close to the oud-myrrh-amber core but the resinous layering reads slightly simpler, giving a warm, woody-oriental scent that is a little less textured than the niche source. It remains a genuinely elegant, mysterious unisex fragrance well suited to formal evenings and cooler months, where its spiced floral-woody character has room to develop. For fans of As Sawira's oud-and-resin signature who want an accessible everyday alternative, No.706 delivers the essential character convincingly.
